Modulation

  • Modulation is the process of varying one or more properties of a periodic waveform.
  • The properties of the carrier signal is changed with a modulating signal.
  • The aim of modulation is to transfer digital signal or analog signal which transmits message conveyed inside another signal.
  • There are mainly two types of modulations. Amplitude modulation and frequency modulation.
   1.Amplitude Modulation (AM):-
  • Amplitude is the vertical distance between the mean and peak value of the signal.
  • Amplitude modulation is changing the amplitude of the carrier wave with the help of modulating wave.
2.Frequency Modulation(FM):-
  • Frequency of a wave is number of cycles per unit time.
  • Changing the frequency of the carrier wave with the modulating wave is called frequency modulation.
