Resolution

  • Resolution is the number of pixels contained on a display monitor.
  • Pixels are small dots on the display represented by number of pixels on horizontal axis and vertical axis.
      Ex: 1024 X 720.
  • If the low resolution picture is displayed on a high resolution display then it spreads the picture according to its resolution.
Low-resolution image                                           High-resolution image

  • Resolution depends on size and number of pixels of the display. Because if normal 15 inch VGA display have 640 pixels then it have 12 inch horizontal line only 53 pixels per inch. Where as smaller VGA monitor has more pixels per inch.
  • Display resolution is not measured in dots per inch.
  • Printer resolution is measured in dots per inch.
  • Resolution is based on the lens of the camera and also megapixels.
  • But there is a difference between DSLR and normal megapixel camera.

Why resolution?

  • Resolution is important to show the content in the pages of the computer screen clearly. Because more information understand by the user is by images. so there clarity is based on resolution. Resolution is very important in printers because the user should understand what is printed on the paper clearly which is based on the resolution.
